Sue Scarlett

After getting a Kodak Instamatic camera for Christmas when 7 or 8 years old, I’ve always been interested in taking photos, mainly family, holidays, etc. But it wasn’t until around the mid 1980’s  when I joined Lea Valley Photographic Society and bought my first SLR camera, Canon AE-1 Program, that my hobby developed further, taking a variety of subjects but mainly landscapes.  I later joined Cuffley Camera Club and then in 2000, Potters Bar Photographic Society. My greatest accolade, to date, was winning Print of The Year in 2004.

In the last few years my enthusiasm, some may say obsession, for photography has returned with vigour, especially since rejoining Potters Bar PS in September 2023 after a 12 year break! More recently have been interested in creative and street photography. I’m relishing the challenge to improve my techniques, skills and, with encouragement from other club members, am aiming to take my photography to the next level, whatever way that is.
