An eye-opening evening on 18 March.  Jeanette (Jet) Lendon from Jet Black Squares photography (Jet Black Squares) gave us a fascinating presentation on how to get the best photographs from our mobile phones.  Jet is a professional photographer and trainer who only uses her phone even for commercial photo shoots.  One observation was that many people do not realise that “proper” pictures can be taken on a phone and often allows more flexibility than a “normal” camera.

After a first session during which Jet explained how to set-up both Apple and Android phones to their best settings, she then moved on to show some examples of the quality of photographs that can be obtained from modern mobile devices.  During the break members were able to experiment with photographing small items up-close (macro) to demonstrate how that can be done on a mobile phone.  The second half allowed Jet to show some techniques, offer some tips and other encouragement to just get out there and take pictures.
