Potters Bar wins the Potters Bar Trophy
5 June 2025
With us hosting the competition for The Potters Bar Trophy there was only one result that we really wanted.
Competing against Enfield Camera Club, H2 Photographic Society (Harlow & Much Hadham), Loughton Camera Club and Southgate Photographic Society, independent judge, Lloyd Moore, had 40 pictures to review, give reasoned observations and then a score out of 20 points. our scores ranged from 16 to 20 but with a good smattering of 18s and 19s.
Our 20 was Malcolm Rapier’s picture “Powering through the dust” of which he says “I have always been attracted to sports photography, especially minority sports where often one can get closer to the action. Powering Through the Dust was taken at a grasstrack racing event East Anglia. Grasstrack is a form of motorcycle racing where participants roar around an oval track, usually in a farmer’s field, at high speeds. The images that can be captured are very weather dependent. In dry conditions the grass surface deteriorates during the day to create the dust shown in the image. If lucky one can ‘capture the moment’ ”.
The final scores were:
143 PBPS
137 Enfield
136 H2PS
136 Loughton CC
135 Southgate PS.
We send our thanks to the other groups and hope that you will join us again next year.
We are always happy to see new potential members. Up to three visits can be free to see if membership is for you. It doesn’t matter what photographic kit you have or your skill level.
