Females feature in photographic final

3 April 2025

It was an evening of females to the fore on 31st March.

The Society’s first stand-alone competition of the year, The Oakmere Cup (named for one of our previous meeting locations), was for monochrome prints.  Our external judge was Amanda Wright from Ealing Photographic Society.  She had dozens of prints to review covering a wide range of subjects, so it was no easy job.

Amanda held-back a dozen pictures for a second look and ended awarding three Commended and three Highly Commended awards before announcing the top three placings for two of our female members.  Fiona Adamson won both first and second place with her prints with Marion Rapier taking third place.  The winning picture “Approaching” was a graphic image taken at Tower Bridge.

Presiding over the meeting was Helen Frost (our Immediate Past President) said “Amanda  is such a lovely and clear speaker and you can hear everything that says and, more importantly, everything she says is worth hearing giving very helpful advice giving us an exceptional evening”.

Society membership is open to anyone interested in photography, what ever you current skill level or photo equipment.  We meet on Monday evenings at Wyllyotts Theatre and the  first three visits are free to see if the Society is for you.
