The competition has started
15 January 2025
13 Jan 25 saw the first round of our 2025 print competition. External judge, Ken Payne, really had his work cut out as he had over 60 prints to assess and score (out of 20).
In the General Class, there were two top scorers with 20 points; Yve Paige with her picture “I can’t get no satisfaction” (a Mick Jagger tribute act) and James Bartlett with “Great Curassow”, a portrait of a rather formidable looking bird originally from Central America.
The Advanced Class offered Ken a wide range of subjects in its 45 images. The range of scores ran from 15 to 20 but the quality was such that Ken held-back 19 pictures for a second look. Eight were awarded the top score of 20.
In her summing-up, Society President, Helen Frost, said “with so many [prints] to judge not many judges would have the energy to comment in such a lively way, including printing and editing tips”. She also thanked Fiona and Graham Adamson for running the competition.
