A close-run night of competition
8 October 2024
The Ron Harvey Trophy is an inter-club landscape print competition. It is named for our one-time President who was an avid landscape photographer.
We invite local photoclubs to come and present up to six prints of a landscape scene. This year the visitors were from Loughton, Southgate, Watford and Welwyn Garden City. The judge for the evening was Dave Hipperson (a member of Harpenden Photographic Society) who kindly stepped-in at very short notice when the judge originally booked tested positive for COVID. Luckily for us Dave is a keen landscape photographer and so knows what he is looking for. He made some well observed and constructive comments based on his knowledge of the subject. His ability to give technical as well as aesthetic comments made for some very fair and constructive comments.
Our current President, Helen Frost, summed-up the evening by thanking Dave for giving “ a splendid evening, showing attention to detail and that we could not get away with anything”.
The final scores (out of a possible 120) were:
Watford 111
Loughton 110
Potters Bar 108
WGC 106
Southgate 104.
