We had a terrific speaker on Monday 12 February.  Marc Aspland Hon FRPS is the Chief Staff Sports Photographer for The Times newspaper and he gave 2024’s Dennis Andrews Memorial Lecture.  Dennis was a long-time member of The Society and in his Will he left a sum of money to us and his bequest allows us to arrange speakers of Marc’s quality.  His presentation was a wonderful series of images of a wide range of both professional and amateur events.   Sports covered ranged from local football matches to the Olympics and International Rugby matches.  As well as showing us a series of stunning images Marc also explained some of the techniques he uses to get his pictures.  During the interval, members were able to look at and handle some of the A Grade equipment that he uses.  A long standing member of The Society said “One of the most interesting, different & enjoyable [presentations] that I have attended at all my years at the club”.
